Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT CAT - 2010) Common Admission Test - 2010
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the various academic programmes for the year 2010-11 as listed below. Admissions are based on Common Admission Test (CAT) / Departmental Admission Test (DAT) / Test for Lateral Entry (LET) and all applicants intending to apply for the academic programmes listed under 1.1, 1.2., 2, and 4 are required to submit their applications through Online Registration whereas for programmes listed under 3.1, 3.2, 3.3. and 3.4 the application forms can be had from the concerned departments/schools. Eligibility conditions and other particulars are given in the detailed notification published. Candidates who have appeared/are appearing in full for their final qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply. All UGC specified degrees, diplomas etc. awarded by UGC approved Statutory Universities are recognized by this University for admission to various courses. However, Distance Education Courses will be considered as recognized, only if they are further approved by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi also. On-line registration will commence on 11-01-2010.
Those who are applying for First Degree Programmes in Engineering & Technology (BTech and 5 year Integrated MSc in Photonics): the CAT will be conducted on All India basis with test centres in New Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Varanasi, Kota and all District Head Quarters of Kerala.
Those who are applying for PG Programmes / both First Degree Programmes including BBA - LLB (Hons) / and PG Programmes: the CAT will be conducted only in the Centres at all the district head quarters of Kerala. Lateral Entry Test will be conducted only at Kochi Centre. The DATs are conducted at Kochi by the individual Departments./Schools/Centre of the University and the dates will be announced later.
The University reserves the right to cancel all or to shift or merge any of the notified test centers for administrative reasons including dates/rules and regulations relating to programmes of study, eligibility, reservation, admission criteria, fee structure and other relevant matters. All disputes related to CAT shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Courts at Kochi only. Appearance in the CAT or figuring in the Rank list does not ipso facto confer any right for admission to a particular course unless found suitable as per the eligibility criteria as amended from time to time. FOREIGN NATIONAL STUDENTS
1. International students are exempted from the requirement of admission test (CAT/DAT) for the academic programmes of the University. They can apply either on self financing basis or through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) attached to the Ministry of Human Resources Development of the Govt. of India. They are required to submit the application through online for the academic programme of the University on payment of US$ 100 by way of Demand Draft / Pay order/Any other instrument (which does not involve collection charges on the part of the University) in favour of Registrar, CUSAT payable at New York.
2. Applicants who have successfully Registered online with CUSAT may forward an advance copy of the confirmation page along with payment of registration fee (D.D/Pay Order) and relevant documents to the following address. ALLOCATION OF SEATS
Of the total seats for BTech (Self-Financing) programmes 50% are free seats, 40% are payment seats and 10% are NRI payment seats. The free seats are earmarked for Keralite students. For BTech in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation and Polymer Science and Engineering 10% of the seats are reserved for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining seats for Keralites. For all regular Post-Graduate Programmes including subsidized Post-Graduate programmes like MCA, MBA (International Business), MBA (Travel & Tourism) and 5 year Integrated MSc in Photonics programme 10% of the seats are set apart for students on all India basis (All India Quota) and the remaining for Keralites. For Post-Graduate programmes under Self-Financing sector 50% of the seats are given for Keralites, 10% for NRI's and the remaining 40% open to all.

a) He/She or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR
b) He/She has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR
c) He/She has undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala OR
d) Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be "Keralites" [GO (Rt) No.822/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008]. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special Reservations.
b) He/She has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR
c) He/She has undergone his/her school studies from standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala OR
d) Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non Keralites) allotted to Kerala circle are deemed to be "Keralites" [GO (Rt) No.822/H.Edn dated 29.05.2008]. But they will not be eligible for Communal/Special Reservations.
Rules for communal reservation framed by the Government of Kerala and implemented in the University from time to time will be applicable to the various academic programmes. MTech Marine Bio-Technology: Selection of candidates is done by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India through a National Test along with all such examinations conducted by the University (JNU). 2. Application forms for programmes listed under 3.1 and 3.2 are available from the departments / schools as indicated below.

II. Candidates are required to fill in all details correctly (SC/ST, Communal /Special Reservation/OEC etc.) failing which the claim under the said categories will not be considered at all.
III. Duly filled Confirmation sheet without the required amount of chalan receipt (University copy), recent colour photograph and signature will be summarily rejected without any notice.
IV. Any anomaly in the details furnished during the online registration leading to rejection of the application will be the sole responsibility of the candidate. Hence the registration must be done with the utmost attention without making any error.
V. If any entries are incorrect /missing, press the back button for going back to the entry form.
VI. If the candidate is satisfied with the entries after verifying the preview, press the 'Confirm' button for completing the registration process, and take two print out of the confirmation page. Candidate should sent one copy of the confirmation page (filled up) along with the copy of fee paid Chalan Receipt (University copy) to the Director, IRAA and retain sufficient copy of confirmation page and chalan receipt for future reference.
VII.Request for change of test centre will not be entertained under any circumstances.
VIII. Incomplete applications in any respect will summarily be rejected.
IX. No separate admit card will be sent to candidate address. Please download the admit card from the www.cusat.nic.in. The Admit Card can be downloaded by submitting candidate's Registration number and date birth. For date from which admit cards are available please visit www.cusat.nic.in
